Concept4is working alongside BTCV to deliver a cross-platform mobile app to help volunteers update their project details in real-time directly while on-site. The app also brings to the mobile platform an on-line location map functionality offered by BTCV’s ‘volunteering opportunity’ which provides access to the charity’s vast database of sites nationwide which people can volunteer for.
The application will deploy geo-location technology to deliver a variety of searchable views ranging from pinpoints on a Google map to an augmented reality view based around the user’s phone or alternatively a postcode. Volunteers can also interact through the application to share media such as photos, videos or leave comments attached to a project site to serve as both a reference to work done and an insight for those interested in volunteering.
The app in finished form will provide a powerful administration tool for organisers and strengthen the BTCV community. In addition it will promote conversation and discussion while place in the hand of users access to one of the largest databases of volunteering opportunities in the UK.
