Initially, Larc was a Social Marketing campaign created by NHS Blackburn with Darwen which was aimed at raising awareness of alternative contraception methods within the South Asian community only; this has now been promoted to target all women of reproductive age throughout the whole of Lancashire.

Initially, Larc was a Social Marketing campaign created by NHS Blackburn with Darwen which was aimed at raising awareness of alternative contraception methods within the South Asian community only; this has now been promoted to target all women of reproductive age throughout the whole of Lancashire.

In addition, NHS Blackpool, NHS North Lancashire, NHS East Lancashire and NHS Central Lancashire are now using the campaign materials to promote “Long Acting Reversible Contraception” methods – working together in partnership to deliver a consistent and coherent message across Lancashire.

The campaign’s visual impact is delivered through the use of the instantly recognisible pink gerbera flower logo which enables all promotional materials to carry a bright, clear and importantly feminine theme whilst avoiding any imagery which may suggest a sexual content and cause offence or embarrassment. The look and feel of the literature succeeds in its aim of being a publication which women of reproductive age are both attracted to visually and are comfortable picking up and reading in public places.

Concept4 was awarded the original commission by Sue Capstick, Sexual Health Development Manager of NHS Blackburn with Darwen. “This was an effective targeted award winning campaign” commented Concept4 Managing Director, Jane Schofield, “which has been recognised and re-launched across the region to create awareness and maximise impact – both Sue Capstick and I are overwhelmed to see the adoption of the original campaign by Sexual Health Teams Lancashire-wide.”

The range of promotional materials include pocket size information guides, leaflets, call to action credit cards, posters and window stickers which highlight the location of services available.

Display banners stands were also produced for use in road shows, within GP Surgeries and Clinics to engage with the target audience.

We have recently been commissioned by The Royal College of Midwives to produce an animated video to target policy makers/audiences worldwide about the benefits of midwives throughout pregnancy/during child birth and post birth.

Concept 4 have been commissioned by The Royal College of Midwives to produce an animated video to target policy makers/audiences worldwide about the benefits of midwives throughout pregnancy/during child birth and post birth.

Our aim was to produce an animated film to promote awareness of the need for respectful, empathetic midwifery care in the quest to reduce maternal and perinatal mortality throughout the world. The film is widely available via the Internet, disseminated through viral networks and social media channels and hosted through the Royal College of Midwives website www.rcm.org.uk

“We are pleased to see the work of Concept4 being recognised not only on a national platform but also worldwide” comments Account Director David Bennett. “This is a great opportunity to be involved and help make a contribution to behavioural change by increasing awareness of the importance of empathetic midwifery care in improving maternal and child health.”

The Midwives Work dvd was premiered at the International Confederation of Midwives Congress in Durban South Africa in front of 3,000 midwives and others interested in maternity care from over 100 countries. The positive feedback was tremendous with midwives, obstetricians, activists and policy makers from countries across the world asking to use the dvd to support their work in reducing maternal and infant mortality, protecting and supporting the role of the midwife. Delegates said after the event that “the dvd moved them, engaged them, informed them and inspired them.”

Concept4 is proud to have worked alongside NHS Blackburn with Darwen to help promote their highly successful 100 Women event.

Concept4 is proud to have worked alongside NHS Blackburn with Darwen to help promote their highly successful “100 Women” event celebrating the achievements of local women specially nominated by friends or family.

“Honouring 100 years of International Women’s Day and celebrating the achievements of local women in Blackburn and Darwen,” commented Concept4 Managing Director, Jane Cleaver, “our work for this extremely important event included the production of invitations, award certificates, letters of success, award badges and the creation of ‘Voices of Choices’, a book of inspirational poems and stories about reproductive health by people from Blackburn and Darwen.”

“Perhaps most importantly,” she continued, “we used our considerable expertise in social media marketing to create a facebook campaign to not only encourage people to nominate local women whose achievements they felt should be celebrated, but also to make it simple and straightforward for them to do so. The criteria for making nominations were: someone who has made a difference to the local community, whose work deserves recognition, is someone to be proud of.”

Targeting local Asian women of reproductive age, our Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) campaign took a very sensitive approach to the issue of contraception. The campaign included banners, promotional items, posters and leaflets focusing on the various methods of reversible contraception available.

Data resulting from the campaign period was encouraging, showing a slight decrease in the Borough’s total number of abortions, with a more significant decrease in abortions across the local Asian community. As a measure of its sensitivity and success, LARC was nominated for a number of high profile awards.

Well-proven solutions
As Concept4, the business also intends to draw on the marketing expertise provided by its sister companies across the commercial, education and public sectors in order to bring an even wider range of well-proven marketing ideas and innovations.

Greater levels of service
Comments Concept4 Managing Director, Jane Cleaver: “Across the country, Marketing for Health was renowned for providing award-winning creativity, powerful online solutions and the highest levels of marketing expertise. Under the Concept4banner, we intend to offer our clients even greater levels of market insight, knowledge transfer, service and creativity.”

Wholly tailored approach
“The need for our clients to fully embrace the importance of clearly defined marketing strategies, in order to ensure brand presence and effective communications to the stakeholders, is greater than ever before,” she added. “We are confident with our considerable expertise, drawn from working across all areas of health, we are better equipped and experienced to deliver the solutions which secure results. Unlike many organisations in the field of health marketing, we have never believed in adopting a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, our ethos has always been to fully investigate each client’s unique circumstances and objectives before providing a wholly tailored solution.”

The right time to rebrand
“For any organisation – especially a well-established one such as ours – a change of name is a major step not to be taken lightly,” continued Jane Cleaver. “However, with the health and public sector facing the biggest changes and challenges it has seen for many years, realising the importance of better targeted communications and stakeholder relationship building, it was clear that now was the right time to re-brand.”
