Welcome Chay

In March, Concept4 added to their hardworking, friendly team for the first time since the pandemic. Chay Maw has joined us as a business development executive. Chay has had similar roles previously and was keen to work again in the education and health sectors. He is a larger than life character with a distinctive booming Yorkshire voice. If Brian Blessed had a grandson! One interesting aspect of his appointment is that he is a hybrid recruit and with him being based in Doncaster this makes sense for all. He has been joining us at the office initially two days a week, staying overnight in nearby Skipton. He has been with us for three weeks now but it somehow feels longer, though in a good way. He began with a hilarious story about people mis-pronouncing his name and has not looked back. I recently sat down with Chay to discuss his new role and his first impressions of us here at Concept4.

Loves Selling In Education

I asked Chay what was the best thing about working in sales and what attracted him to working at Concept4. He really enjoys the selling process and networking. Selling websites to schools enables him to get closer to the customer and understand their ethos and values. In doing so he is able to have a positive impact on the trusts and schools he deals with. This is a real feel good factor for Chay, the possibility of giving back and being involved, even in a small way, in the growth and development of a school. As he loves working in the education sector and has sold websites previously, Concept4 is a great fit for him. He can connect with schools, engage with their challenges and enjoy access to a big market which is constantly changing. He is excited to get his first projects moving.

First Impressions Of Concept4

So far so good for Chay at Concept4. He has really enjoyed it to date and feels the company has a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Significantly, he has been impressed by what the company has to offer its clients, something that can only make his job easier and more enjoyable. He is intrigued by our three year website deals and encouraged by our desire to offer outstanding customer service. He noted that we tend to plan more than he is used to but he is interested in how this plays out. Meanwhile, he is already enjoying the customer contact that attracted him to the role in the first place. He seems genuinely keen to be a success story at Concept4 by being a part of his customer’s success stories. Interestingly, one of Chay’s first jobs was loading and unloading sofas at DFS. Much to his disappointment I have confirmed we rarely have a sale on here!

Chay’s Favourite Things

To get to know Chay better I asked him about a few of his favourite things and it was my question about food that seemed to spark his interest most! He loves to eat out, ideally with some of his large network of friends. His preferred main course option would be some kind of burger. His real passion though is the great outdoors and most weekends he enjoys hiking, camping and outdoor swimming! When I say most weekends I can actually clarify further. I am a big fan of statistics and was impressed when Chay explained he had spent thirty-eight weekends away last year. When asked for his favourite travel destination he then surprised me with Cornwall, somewhere he would love to live one day. When he is not outdoors, Chay enjoys fantasy and crime dramas, Game of Thrones being the first he mentioned. He also has an interest in artificial intelligence, an evolving technology he has embraced and feels we all need to understand in more depth as we face the future. As Chay faces his own future here at Concept4 we say welcome and good luck.
