Outstanding secondary education institution Nelson & Colne College were determined to showcase what's amazing about their college and generate excitement for college students looking for a place in September 2020, so with our help they created their first EVER online event, which was a MASSIVE success!

It's all in the planning

A huge amount of work went into planning this event with many stakeholders around the college. From the project management, content creation and population which "was immense" to quote Anita Monaghan, Creative Director, the campus photography and website imagery, site checks and updates, video content and map design. Not to mention all of the supporting materials in event comms and social media campaigning to generate interest and attract students to the event.

"It’s been a huge amount of work in a short space of time, so thank you all for your role in this - great teamwork!" Anita Monaghan, Creative Director, N&CC.

Outstanding results!

The event went live without a hitch, attracting a massive 701 users from a 1108 which were initially invited (62%!) Compare this to 2019 enrolment day which recorded some 327 visitors, this is more than double! Some further analysis from Google analytics gave deeper insight into the success of the event, showing:

  • Average user session time was 20 minutes
  • 129 live chat users
  • 266 online enrolment accounts activated

The college responded to a further 260 email enquiries so those enrolment figures are sure to continue climbing! They are also now able to follow up on the people who registered but didn't attend, creating further opportunity for the college to attract even more students. A resounding success, a lot of hard work and one very happy client!

"‘Attendance’ is higher than previous year’s (327 recorded last year for Nelson). We appreciate it’s not the same experience, but the online access has certainly encouraged more applicants to engage, than normally would do. We now need to get a full sense of how useful the information provided was and how people found the experience, which we will be capturing post-event, as well as doing a full event evaluation."  Anita Monaghan, Creative Director, N&CC.

Could this be the future of college events and school open evenings? We'll leave you with that thought...
