LARC Campaign

Initially, Larc was a Social Marketing campaign created by NHS Blackburn with Darwen which was aimed at raising awareness of alternative contraception methods within the South Asian community only; this has now been promoted to target all women of reproductive age throughout the whole of Lancashire.

In addition, NHS Blackpool, NHS North Lancashire, NHS East Lancashire and NHS Central Lancashire are now using the campaign materials to promote “Long Acting Reversible Contraception” methods – working together in partnership to deliver a consistent and coherent message across Lancashire.

The campaign’s visual impact is delivered through the use of the instantly recognisable pink gerbera flower logo which enables all promotional materials to carry a bright, clear and importantly feminine theme whilst avoiding any imagery which may suggest a sexual content and cause offence or embarrassment. The look and feel of the literature succeeds in its aim of being a publication which women of reproductive age are both attracted to visually and are comfortable picking up and reading in public places.

The range of promotional materials include pocket size information guides, leaflets, call to action credit cards, posters and window stickers which highlight the location of services available. Display banners stands were also produced for use in road shows, within GP Surgeries and Clinics to engage with the target audience.
