Concept4 were asked to transition The College of West Anglia's desktop-only website from its depreciated CMS to an open-source solution using responsive design, giving them the ability to host the new website themselves, update features and functionality and to prevent their previous dated solution from reoccurring. The proposed solution was required to feed information directly from the college's internal courses database for course information and PDF course leaflets, generated on-the-fly. Additionally, the website was required to process online applications - the college accept 100% of their applications online.
A parallax design was used to add depth and interest, alongside a considered user experience to ensure users find the information of relevance. The homepage banner mixes animation, key messages and video content, covering a cross section of student profiles. Six key colour coded sections form the main navigational element, for each of the college's sectors such as school leavers, higher education and adult learning. Each department area includes details of all the courses offered and courses can be added to a shopping cart, linked directly to an online application process.
Launched in November 2015, the new school website design has been well received by the college's internal audience. In time, we'll find out how powerful the website becomes in assisting with student engagement and enrolments. It's probably safest to quote our client directly on the project delivery, where we were informed that our service had been "absolutely outstanding" and that they were "incredibly pleased with all aspects of the service provided by Concept4". High praise indeed!
